I am a great fan of worksheets in Vectorworks, but my use in only within a small area, like counting, lists, manhole and pipe run calculator, and the like, Jon Pickup of Archoncad has listed on his blog today, a list of three different worksheets,

  • Risk Matrix
  • House insulation – schedule Method
  • House insulation – Calculation method

These are only available to members of Archoncads Vector-workout Subscription, and I can imagine that its very NewZealand oriented, but thats not the point, its the workings and the way the lists will have been constructed thats inportant, so if your part of Archoncads Vector-workout drop in and pick them up.

Jon has a new online session for symbols next week, I think I’m booked in for the Monday session in the morning. I use symbols a lot particularly with my Vantagepoint Cartographics company planting trees on large arboretums, and when you have 60,000 plus trees and dozens of different species then this is a major subject for me, we use a lot of the different work methods Jon has taught over the years, with class, and database linking, so spreadsheets are a natural extension to our drawing methods.

I suppose this is all within my general BIM CPD research helping me to expand my general use of information stored within my Vectorworks drawings, the more I try to use the embedded data with worksheets, the more I want to use symbols, class, layers and name items correctly.
